What is Analytical Exposition?

Definition :

 Analytical exposition text is a text thatelaborates the writer's idea about thephenomenon surrounding. It's socialfunction is to persuade the readersthat the idea is important matter.

Generic structure :

1.Thesis :introduces the topic and indicating the writer'sposition.

2. Arguments 1:Explaining the argument to supportthe writer's position.

3. Arguments 2 :Explaining the other arguments tosupport the writer's position more.

4. Reiteration :Restating the writer's position.

Analytical exposition text is a text that explains a phenomenon or problem comprehensively by using arguments that support the idea of the text. The main function of analytical exposition text is to tell and convince the reader that the issues raised are important. Generally, analytical exposition text is found in the editorial section of a magazine or newspaper.

The analytical exposition text structure also ends with a conclusion, while the hortatory exposition text ends with a recommendation. The following is the structure, style, and examples of analytical exposition:

1. Thesis (introduction): introduces the topic and indicates the author's opinion on the topic

2. Series of arguments (body of text): describes the arguments that support the author's opinion

3. Reiteration (conclusion): restate the author's opinion

Language Style in Analytical Exposition

1. Using the simple present tense

For example, "I think, bullying in school is really bad. Every child has the right to go to school and get an education. No child should ever be made to feel that school is a place where they will be mistreated."

2. Using words of mental process

Words of mental process are words that express thoughts, perceptions, or feelings. Examples are think, see, feel.

3. Using words of relational process

Words of relational process are words that express the process of change (being, having, becoming).

4. Using words that connect phrases and sentences

Words connecting phrases and sentences initiate new points in an argument. An example is the use of the words because, so that, and due to.

Analytical exposition text also has language features such as using modals, action verbs, thinking verbs, adverbs, adjectives, technical terms, general and abstract nouns, and connectives or transitions.

Language plays an essential role in communicating information, content, and message, therefore using its various features like simile, figurative, etc. in the right way is too important. Language Features refers to sentence structure, punctuation, noun, vocabulary, phrases, etc. used in content supports, provides meaning to the communication. Different language features used in connection shape the conversation; therefore, it is crucial to choose the right language features to define form, and construct content.

Examples of Language Features:

Figurative Language, colloquial Language, alliteration, metaphor, simile, consonance, etc. are a few examples of Language features used to communicate content, information effectively.

Language Features, its techniques play an essential role in communicating, delivering information, or content to the receiver. With the use of Language techniques and features in the right way, a person can provide information, the way he wants to deliver, and how he wants the audience to understand. Lastly, knowing language features and techniques is essential for succession in all the areas, whether it be student or speaker, employee, employer, etc.
