Song is a composition of tone or voice in sequence, combination and temporal relation to produce a musical composition that has unity and continuity. 


Songs are used to express feelings and ideas in an entertaining world. Songs can be used to deliver social criticism. The moral values are hidden in the lyrics


Language Features


imagery . Imagery describes about feelings and emotions. 

Rhythm. The rhythm here is used to create a mood. So, rhythm creates mood!

Figures of speech

Metaphor, comparing two things that are not alike to suggest that they actually have something in common. At first glance, the two things being compared are not related, but actually there are similarities between the two things. eg “Time is a thief” or “Herhaisrwassilk”

Simile, compare two things using “like” or “as''. Something is described in a similar way by using the words 'like' or 'as' eg “My love is like a red rose”. Hyperbole , a dramatic language.Big exaggeration, usually with humor. Something exaggerated, sometimes tickled by the exaggeration.

eg “Thatmathhomeworktookme 8 millionyearstofinish”.

Personification , an object looks like a person. Objects (non-humans) have abilities like humans. eg “The windwhisper” or “The snowflakes danced in the wind”.

Alliitration , therepetation of the same beginning sound in a series of words. The repetition of the sound that is at the beginning of each word.

STRUCTURE (Generic Structure)

Intro , which is the beginning of the song, usually the singer's voice is not heard (only the instruments)

Verse , or stanza is the introduction to the chorus.

Refrain, the transition from verse to chorus

The chorus , the core section, is usually the easiest to remember.

Bridge, linking the chorus to the next chorus or to the coda.

Coda, closing song.
